Take Time To: Catch Up On Weeds

We are now into season 7 of Weeds. Back in the day when I had a lot of time to kill (AKA undergrad) I watched a lot of television. Everything from dramas, comedies, dramedies, reality television, etc. Since then I have had to cut down on many of these shows. However, some shows I am so invested in that I have no choice but to continue with them because I need to know how it ends. Weeds is one of those shows. Every week I watch, I get disappointed, then I  continue to watch. This season was no different... until now. Weeds is bringing back some familiar faces to the show and I can't wait! I was hoping to see my favorite character, Conrad, back but sadly, it looks like that isn't going to happen...

I Am A Sucker For Modern Day Disney Movie Remakes

What can be cornier than a modern-day remake of a Disney flick? Not much, but I seem to be a sucker for them all. First came A Cinderella Story starring Hilary Duff in 2004 and I thought, this must be the worst movie ever. I was wrong and actually ended up really liking it (and seeing it about a hundred times total). Then same Sydney White in 2007, the sorority version of Snow White. Not as good as the Duff film but it wasn't terrible. Then came Beastly starring Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer. While none of these movies will be winning Oscars anytime soon, here's why they still got at least three stars on my Netflix.

Sometimes 25 Hours Is Just Not Enough...

There are two types of busy. The first type is when you are pretty busy and can use that business as an excuse for getting out of things you don't want to do. For example, giving yourself a reason for not going to the gym. Or instead of making a home cooked meal, you speed through the drive-thru because you just "don't have time" to make something. Then there is the second type of busy. The type if busy when you ACTUALLY have no time to do anything. The type of busy where you sleep 4 hours a night and are so jammed packed with things to do that you don't even have time to go to the bathroom.

Our Favorite Serial Killer Is Back! Check Out The Dexter Trailer For Season 6

Fall television is on the horizon and one of the shows I am most looking forward to coming back is Dexter! Michael C. Hall plays everyone's favorite serial killer in the Showtime hit show. Yesterday the trailer for the upcoming season was released at San Diego Comic Con and it looks great! Saw all the familiar faces and some new ones including Edward James Olmos, Mos Def, and most importantly, Colin Hanks! Although Dexter may have fallen in love last season it doesn't look like he's gone soft. I'm curious to see if the breakup of Hall and Jennifer Carpenter in real life will effect the show at all. Check out the trailer and see for yourself!

It Is HOT In This City!

I think I deserve a round of applause. I am a female, 20 something New Yorker and I have yet to make any mention of loving Carrie Bradshaw and Sex and the City... until now of course. It took forever to get here but summer is finally here and it is NO JOKE (thanks a lot Global Warming). New York City has been under heat advisory and I even heard on the news this morning that over 20 people have died this week due to the heat! I have lived in NYC my whole life, but I have always been a girl from Queens. This is the first time in my life that I spend everyday in the heart of NYC, Manhattan. Unfortunately, it is like 20 degrees hotter in Manhattan than any other borough. In times like these I am always reminded of this episode of Sex and the City partially because of the heart and mostly because of the cameo from my favorite Spice Girl. If you are in NYC right now, you will understand.

What You Will See And Will Not See In Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows

So... It all ended. The final Harry Potter film released this weekend shattering records all over the place. Biggest midnight showing, biggest opening weekend, and likely to be the largest grossing film of all time. As a huge fan I was pretty satisfied with the final two films depicting the last (and greatest) book in the series. Did they include everything? No. Of course not. It is just a movie. Here are some of the highs you get to see and some things you will miss out on. Spoiler Alert: Don't continue reading if you want the movie ruined for you. Seriously. Stop reading now.

Take Time To: Work Off Those Extra Pounds

One of the perks that come with being busy all the time is the use of constant excuses. When there are things you really don't want to do you can always say, "I don't have time!" However, we all know that if we really want to make time for something, we will. One of the most frequent things I use excuses for us working out but then a gift fell on my lap. As I watched my morning infomercials, Tony Horton, of P90X notoriety, came onto my television and introduced the Ten Minute Trainer. This was a set of workout DVDs that only required you to work out for 10 minutes a day. I was already creating the excuses in my head but then Tony Horton looked right at me and said, "Are you watching this informercial? Then you have 10 minutes!" The only thing I could think was, "Crap. He's right."

Movie Review: Bad Teacher Was Not That Bad

A few weeks ago Bad Teacher starring Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, and Jason Segel came out. It looked like it could be a really funny movie so I checked it out. Overall, it was mediocre. They had some great one liners and funny story lines. I thought the characters were great but the casting might have been a bit off. Here's a breakdown of what I liked and what I could have lived without.

Who Needs Planking When You Can Be Cone-ing!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner and their name is cone-ing. I know it seems like just moments ago that I was telling you to take time to plank. Well, we live in a fast paced city and now I am telling you that planking is so yesterday. I recently came across a video titled "Cone-ing Is The New Planking." Seeing as I had never heard of cone-ing, I was intrigued and clicked through. What I found was a piece of YouTube heaven. I can't explain what it is about this video that makes me cry/laugh but I can't get enough. If you're brave enough, take video of your attempts and cone-ing. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Sorry Winnie The Pooh... You Cannot Compete With Harry Potter

Poor Pooh Bear. I guess Disney realized that they are the underdogs this weekend in the race for box office glory. On July 15th, everyone will be running to see the last installment of Harry Potter, not the new Winnie the Pooh flick. That doesn't mean Disney is going to give up! In fact, they realized that they have some big competition and put out a couple of hilarious Harry Potter-themed commercials. Check them out!

Take Time To: PLANK

Once upon a time, a co-worker of mine took a picture of herself lying face down on a ledge and posted it   for the company to see. She called this planking. Seeing as I had never heard of planking before I brushed it off and just thought to myself, "Hmm that was weird!" Little did I know that this one picture would be the beginning of a phenomenon. One by one more co-workers were posting pictures but the positions kept getting stranger and stranger. They were planking on walls, mailboxes, ladders, fire escapes, etc. Research became necessary.

Foursquare Badges That Should Exist

Originally posted on Likeable Media's blog. Badge design done by Samantha DeMott.

One of the best things about using Foursquare is obtaining badges. Besides the fact that you earn something cool for going on with your daily activities, it also makes Foursquare into a fun game with an incentive to play. Foursquare has done a pretty good job of making sure users don't get bored with the same old badges. Ever so often they release new badges that you can earn. Plus, they often partner with big businesses to offer special limited edition badges as well. As a heavy Foursquare user and badge of obssesser, I cam up with my own list of badges I wish existed. Listen up Dennis Crowley... these could be your next big idea!

Results from Disney Pixar-Themed #DisneyChat (7/6/11)

Last night was the first ever #disneychat. A few "twiends" and I found a common love for all things Disney and decided to have a once a month Twitter chat about it (first Wednesday of every month at 8:30PM EST). I volunteered to host the first one and the theme was Pixar. The chat lasted one hour and focused around 10 questions. Here were the stats, the questions, and the highlights from last night's #disneychat. Maybe I'll intrigue you into joining the next one!

Will You Be At #DisneyChat Wednesday 8:30PM EST?

I participate on a number of Twitter chats where people get together, use the same hashtag, and discuss a topic through tweets. One on particular Twitter chat, a number of twiends and I got side tracked on a totally unrelated Disney conversation (surprise, surprise). We all thought, "Hey. We all love Disney. Why isn't there a Disney chat on Twitter?" Long story short, we decided to create one and tomorrow at 8:30PM EST we will be making it's debut.

Take Time To: Celebrate The Fourth Of July!

On July 4th 1776, America declared its independence from Great Britain. More importantly, July 4th has become a time for BBQs, beaches, parties, and getting a day off from work! This year, take to to celebrate this historic day and remember, everyone who is NOT an American will be working while you are relaxing. Since doing fireworks in NYC is technically illegal, below is a clip that the rest of you nerds will appreciate. Happy Fourth of July from #25hours!

Mixed Messages Part 2: What Is Disney Trying To Teach Us?

Please welcome guest blogger, fellow disney-lover, and co-worker Amy Kattan! You can read Amy's blog here.

For those of you who know me well, you ‘re well aware of the fact that I’m a Disney freak. In case you didn’t know, here’s the evidence to prove it. I’m the first to admit that I’ve spent a little too much time analyzing everything Disney: from movies, to television shows, to actors and singers, and everything in between. The only other person I know who loves Disney in this way is my friend and coworker (and author of this blog), Cara Friedman. Cara and I have spend a little too much time getting nostalgic over our favorite Disney classics, talking about which characters are just like us, and even gossiping about the crazy lives of stars such as Demi and Selena (this one sometimes ends in a argument—we’re VERY protective of these girls!).  After reading Cara’s post about the wonderful lessons we learned from Disney, I got inspired to come up with a few backwards lessons of my own. Disney, you’re fab, but be careful of these mixed messages:
